DF103 Introduction to Portrait Drawing

- Beginner Level Drawing
- Duration: 8 weeks
- With Lance Richlin
- Successful completion will provide you with the following credits towards certification: Shading: 1, Figures: 5
This eight-week course will guide you through the techniques used to create lifelike representations of the human head in graphite, and is suitable for both artists with no experience, and those who simply wish to refine their portraiture skills.
You will learn important anatomical structures while completing two drawing projects: a male head, and a female head. This course illustrates a simple, seven-stage process used to create accurate portraits: the lay-in, plumb lines, volume, outline, tonal pattern, value, and finishing; as outlined in Lance Richlin's book: 'Drawing Made Easy: Lifelike Heads'.
