Classroom Guide

A quick guide to joining classrooms at Drawspace!

A Drawspace classroom is a structured environment hosted by world renowned authors and art educators. Weekly assignments are given and you will receive valuable, personal feedback on your work from your teacher. It's the best way improve your drawing skills!

Step 1: Choose a course

Start by finding a course that interests you. All courses are adult level unless otherwise stated in the course description. If you are considering purchasing a seat for a younger student, you should ask the course teacher if the subject matter is suitable before proceeding. For this or other specific questions about a course, you can ask the teacher directly by clicking the "E-mail" link located on the right-side of every teacher's bio page.

Step 2: Choose a classroom

Each course will contain one or more classrooms that have different start dates. Pick a classroom with a timeframe that suits you. Some courses are offered in permanent classrooms, meaning you can register and begin your first assignment immediately.

Step 3: Enroll

  • Click the "Register" link next to the classroom you would like to join, and follow the payment instructions.
  • A permanent link to your classroom will be provided on your 'My Drawspace' page.
  • Even when your class is over, you will be able to return to the classroom to review work, feedback, and re-download assignments if you choose.

Step 4: Classroom start

  • If you joined a permanent classroom, you can begin your first assignment immediately, otherwise, you will need to wait until your classroom start date to begin.
  • Your assignments will be in Adobe PDF format, and will be accompanied by detailed instructions from your teacher.
  • Download your first assignment and if you prefer to work from a paper copy, simply print it off. Your teacher will be communicating with you continuously and will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Step 5: Complete your first assignment

  • Follow the instructions in your assignment and scan your finished work. (You can use a digital camera if you prefer).
  • When you upload your work, you have the option to make each piece "public" or "private". Public work can be seen by everyone, where as private work can only be seen by you and your teacher.
  • Try to complete your assignment in advance of the due date in order to receive prompt feedback from your teacher.
  • Check your classroom page to see when your next assignment will be available.

Step 6: Keep going

Complete each assignment, learn from your feedback, and you will be amazed at the progress you make!
