A basic knowledge of the physical aging processes allows you to accurately draw people of various ages. The age regression and progression techniques, discussed in this heavily illustrated article, can be invaluable for accurately portraying or modifying the ages of portrait subjects.

This is by far my favorite lesson of yours. I don't know why, it just grabbed my attention, and taking the lesson realy improved my grasp on diffrent ages! I used to could never be able to draw babies or teens, since all my short years of life I spent drawing adults. Thanks!

I wish I would have found this a year ago when I had the commission. I had to age a couple's picture because he wanted to propose with the line "I want to grow old with you" It turned out well, but with this it would have gone a lot more quickly! And have been a bit better!

I read through this lesson... it's awesome by the way... but I'm still having trouble aging people. I have a picture of a nine year old that I'm trying to make 16-18 then 26 (for a Bible story visual aid) Do I need to start from an adult and go younger instead? Here's the picture I'm working with if it helps... all the older pictures look like cartoons. Are there any specific things that would help? I need to draw this by the first Wednesday of 2008. (should I just try and find pictures of different aged people that look similar or is this doable?)
