Since the human face take the most attention and the most attractive item when one draw,i suggest to make new lessons for each part of faces -noses,eyes...- in details and how one can draw adifferent faces(i draw always the same one) and also the most important differences for male and female.
thanks for our admin for valuable lessons.

This suggestion isn't exactly what you are asking for, but you should also ask your self, "What is it about this person or photo that distinquishes it, or identifies the person or their expression?" Another way of saying this is, "What makes this picture interesting?"

The answer can be more important than perfectly rendered noses, ears, mouths, etc.

Also, usually it's the eyes that are the most important. I try to make sure I get the eyes as perfect as I possibly can.

Sometimes it's a special, or unique, way a person smiles that identifies them, or makes the photo interesting.

I hope this helps.

Also to answer the question about the differences in the male and female face. The males usually have more sharper angles to the features. The females seem to have softer curves. I find females and children harder to draw because of this. It is easier to draw a face with sharp or rough features and deep wrinkles than it is to draw smooth soft rounding features.

wow and I find smooth faces easier lol childeren are hard and that is why I was doing so many of them for awhile to get the hang of it .. they just have different features...men are my hardest .. I want them rough and hard but mine end up looking like a drag queen .. nothing against drag queens mind you but when its suppose to be the Duke ....you dont want it looking like Patty Duke lol

I totally agree Joanie. No matter how much I study I'm always coming up against problems that I need to solve. In addition to what you suggested I would like to see some lessons on particular facial expressions and emotions... like making the same pair of eyes smile, laugh, cry, show wonder... etc.

OOps! My apologies to both Painter59 and to you Joanie. Yes, I've noticed that user name throwing me off before! blush.gif But I guess, my dear Joanie, for me you are the one and only painter! laugh.gif

Gary Faigin, The Artist's complete guide to facial expression. Don't expect Brenda to do that kind of stuff (very time consuming) for free, she also has to make a living. smile.gif

I have the book by Gary Faigin, really good read and I learned a lot about facial expression and the different muscles and bones that make the various expressions. Neat book!
