I think I have figured out how to keep track of what lead is in my mechanical pencil now. I know it has this little thing on the side but I keep forgetting to set it and it does not match my hardness anyway for the most part. I drilled little holes in my stand and marked them. See photo. Just an idea. If the hole is empty then that is what is in the pencil.

Hi Calvin,
That is a great idea, do you still use this method today (Nov 06)?

Great idea Calvin!

I use a different coloured pencil for each lead type. I have a little list taped onto the inside of the box where I store my pencils to colour code the pencil and the type of lead in it....blue HB, red 2B, etc etc.

I have a whole set of numbered pencils Hb ect .. I have no clue as how to use them i tried to draw with them but it was like I was a beginner .. no kidding I was so bad at the shading .
