Now, I know it's called Drawspace for a reason, but I think it would be really helpful if there were a few painting tutorials, especially acrylic. I've seen lots of paintings in the Gallery, so I know many other people paint, too, and tutorials on painting would be really helpful.

I agree, of course we can't ask for everything, and Brenda has already gave so much to us, but it would be very very nice to have a tutorial on painting.

If you are interested in paint, you should look into some of the forums that are dedicated to the type of painting you would like to do. Drawing and Painting are two very generic terms to describe a means of rendering an image. Depending on the type of art you are doing (I know little to nothing about ART) you may paint without an under drawing but I couldn't imagine doing that. Drawing with pencil, charcoal, CP and Ink, all require slightly different tools and techniques but it is all drawing. Painting is the same, more tools and materials, differnet techniques but still rendering an image. The tools and techniques are differenet but how you "SEE" the reference is the same no matter what the medium. That part of what you are learning here is applicable in any medium you should like to try.
Think of it this way, you can learn to drive a car and then go learn to drive a big Rig. All the rules of the road are basicly the same, you just have to learn some more technical stuff!

I agree with you and also with Kaly that Brenda did a very nice job with this site and helped alot everyone that is on..Maybe we could have something like tips not the whole lessons but some suggestions that may help to improve..

I totally agree that painting tutorials would be wonderful on this site - and I'm working on this! After all, painting is simply drawing with paints!

hi everyone. I originally began brenda's course with a view to improving my drawing so I could paint better. But i now love drawing! I've put my watercolours on the backburner so I can concentrate on this great course. but if you're going to add colour to your course Brenda that would be great!

For two days now i am the happy owner of a small set of oils and 5 canvas panels, new brushes, walnut oil(they say is for oils) and turpenoid. I did a first coat of paint to a small canvas(now I'm waiting to dry) and i was just thinking to open a thread in which i can put the resources that i found online, tutorials, and mostly very good video lessons on oil painting. If anyone is intersted i can open that thread with my resources and questions, problems, puzzels. In this way i hope to engage the mature or beginner artist in this medium to participate and later on an artist willing to help develop a tutorial on drawspace. Is that Ok with you people?
