Hello everyone. I just bought Brenda's People book from amazon. I specifically got it because I like Brenda's teaching style. I cant wait to get it. Its like waiting for santa claus.

Hopefully very soon I will be able to put more theory into practice. Ive read tons of books, but have very little experience actually drawing. This is really bad but im afraid of the pencil. I love art, and learning about art. So I read about it. But when it comes to applying the theory I am lacking. I guess its easier to read then draw because you cant mess up reading.

I have alot more free time comming so im looking forward to drawing with you all.

I have a huge interest in taking pretty much all her classes minus the painting one. the problem is they fill quick. Pretty much everything is filled until the first of the year. so that is something I really have plan ahead with.

I am really sad that her draw in your pajamas and shade in your pajamas is not available at like a barnes and nobel. just because then I wouldnt have to wait until the first of the year.

Once christmas is out of the way i definitely will take advantage of the education opportunity's offered here. Provided the course is not full again of course.

Its necessary to actually draw - while reading to inform yourself about techniques and approaches is important, progress is mainly made by actually drawing.

You shouldn't be afraid of pencil and paper, the more you do, the better you get - and if you are struggling or getting stuck, that is precisely the time to post what you are drawing here, and you will then get helpful advice and support.



Messing up is part of the process. Drawing (and painting too) is essentially something done as an "error-correction" cycle process - make a mark, check if its correct - if its not, redo it - the more you do, the better you get at it, and the more direct, efficient, and eventually fast, you get.

Thanks for the reply Dave. What you say makes alot of sense. Im trying to draw at least every day now. I bought a cd called The Structure of Man. Im working through it with a sketchbook as I follow along and its helping me get comfortable with a pencil. Its up in the air about how I feel about The structure of Man's formula's but he does review anatomy from different angles so its at least good for that.
