Full Version: D10 - Squirkling a Bumpy Texture
Drawspace > Drawing lesson comments > Beginner > D - Squirkling
admin
In the real world, very few objects have actual lines defining their forms. Rather, contrasting values identify the edges of the object’s parts according to the lights and darks created by the dominant light source. This lesson focuses on values and forms rather than lines and shapes. You use squirkles to draw the wonderful bumpy texture of an avocado with shading only - no outlining.

Hi...

My name is Christine and I'm Korean.

I'm grade 7 in Scott Creek Middle School,

then my homeroom teacher said,

"You can see some pictures and learned somethings.

I learned some skill of the arts.

Yeah...I think it's very nice picture.

I hope I can draw like that.

Great lesson! I'm going to try that also. Sincerely JanJan

I thought this was a great lesson. I have never drawn a surface this way and found it very satisfying. I drew my avocado with black pencils on white poster board, but the digital camera photo added the color.

This was a good lesson. I did well with it. Although I'm not sure anyone else will know it's an avocado. laugh.gif

I couldn't get this done very well, I will get back to it.

Okay so i thought i could never do this, it would take forever, be too hard and be boring.. but i did it anyways.. I was totally wrong! I'm so glad i did this biggrin.gif My family is so impressed with my avocado and more impressed at the time i did it in. I'm going to be practicing this technique more. Maybe a pickle or an orange next. ^^

Thanks for this lesson.

For me it was a difficult lesson. I'm not sure if my avocado resembles an avocado at all. Shading was a difficult thing to do. I think I'll have to go back to this lesson couple of times more.

Toughest challenge so far, thats for sure. Great lesson.

Boa noite,

Todas as aulas são otimas, dinamicas, o unico problema é que não leio nem falo ingles, e quando aciono o TAKE THIS LESSON ONLINE toda a aula explicativa do assunto de interesse é executado em inglês.

Mas mesmo assim parabéns

I find creating different textures one of the hardest things to do. This helped a lot though!
Wakeful Thoughts
This was really hard, getting the texture right was overwhelming and in the end my avocado had a sort of peanut look about it!

Didn't like this lesson... Just made me feel frustrated.. sad.gif

It was a great lesson, but I think this should probably be an intermediate lesson. I did some intermediate lessons which were easier than this.
