Perspective is the very foundation, on which your drawing compositions will either stand or fall. With proper use of perspective, your representational drawings become visually correct and more realistic. Understanding the rules of perspective can even enhance your creative skills, by allowing you the confidence to explore new concepts in depth perception in your drawings.

Thanks for this great tutorial! I know little to nothing about perspective, but signed on and learned a lot just from the first lesson.

Yes, I believe you must buy a subscription to download & print. It doesn't cost much, and I think it helps fund this site. You can go to "my controls", then to Options: buy paid subscription or something like that.
Good luck to you --Mindy

Hi, I found this topic real helpful. Just one thing I don't seem to get right. How would I proceed to get I proper cube. I know how to bring it into perspective now, but how would I calculate the proper distance on the 'vanishing perspective' line, so all sides are in proper scale.
Best regards,
Tonco

May i suggest an update? A few lessons, the firsts for beginners, have boxes on the side with 'art speak', it's great for anyone that started at any random lesson and doesn't know well the meaning af some words, but having to read them on every lesson in the text (not the box) gets a bit old.

This question refers to item 1-17. Shouldn't the forms be arranged in a circular fashion, if they are all the same length?

Hello,
Thank you very much for these lessons. I still have problems understanding perspectives. In fact, when I look at a picture, I have problems to know where the horizontal line and the vanishing point might be. In fact, sometimes I ask myself if it is possible to identify several vanishing points in a picture.
Thank you for your answers
David
