Why? Delete any images you've posted, or anything else you don't want on the site, and then just abandon the account.

edit: Never mind, I can just change my email address to some garbage address. That works just as well. By the way, the reason I wanted to delete my account was because I haven't visited the site in ages and just received prescription drug spam from DrAnabolic.

I too would like to delete my account since I regularly get spam messages on this site. I'm not sure what the problem is as I never get spammed on any other forum's PM system. Is there a way to get this stopped?

It is complete BS that members can't have control over this aspect of their accounts.

Can you name a web site that does allow you to delete your account in this way? I can't.

Nevertheless, I just ran through this thread and removed everybody who asked to be. I still don't understand why.

To those who wish to delete their account: There's no need to! Change your user-name to jibberish, delete all pictures, leave and never come back! Eventually, many months down the road, they'll go through and delete the accounts that were abandoned. Don't worry, the aliens won't be able to track you through your old DS account, you're safe....

I'd guess because, in some of these cases - certainly one, above there - they were recipients of PM spam, and have reacted thus, rather than just reporting it?

Anyway, its their loss if they choose not to make use of the site's facilities, and fail to appreciate that its a friendly and educational forum with great staff.

I may be wrong but I suspect these people need to be told that they can delete email and spam. I get at least one or two email a day from Nigeria telling me how rich I am. I don"t ask Yahoo and Google to delete my account, I simply delete the unwanted email.
