Hi Casey! Took a quick look at your gallery. I am hardly and expert but I do try to achieve realistic results when I do a drawing or painting. First off you need good reference material. Don't expect to be able to draw out of your head without having pictures of what you are drawing to guide you. Be careful when drawing out your initial lines that will guide you, make them very very light so when the shading values are applied there is NO line just the proper gradient from light to dark with no "LINE" Be careful to draw what you see not what you think it should look like. Use only HIGH RESOLUTION photos to do portrait work. You can not make up what is not in front of you until you have considerable experience. Even then you must be careful how you embellish someones face! Don't be afraid to make the parts of the drawing that are Black really dark. This means lots of layers of graphite not pushing real hard! The type of support you draw on effect the image.
Good luck and keep at it!
