This is a current WIP of my boy. I have work to do to him still, maybe about 5 hours or so...

I'm trying to think of something for the background. I was planning on leaving it white, or a subtle tone to pop the reflective highlights forward, but I've decided that I might make better use of it.

I put his hand in the center of the page as that is the true center of focus. My original idea was to make it look like he got up into the picture on the wall. So many possibilities, I'm not sure where to go with it.

Any ideas?

excellent drawing - very difficult to distinguish from this perspective what he wants to grab; that can be anything, ball, mirror, toys, etc. ; no idea, I am looking forward to your solution smile.gif

wow.. everytime I see one of your drawings I`m amazed how good you are. This is excellent work. To me it looks like he is trying to grab your pencils. smile.gif

Thanks for the kind comments. smile.gif I'm going to be putting some old wood alphabet blocks floating in front of him with a 3D look. I'm not sure if I'm going to go realism on them, or if I'm going to make these blocks out of static electricity.

Hi,
What an outstanding work !
Wouldn't be a nice idea to leave out anything this little artist seems to grab ?
I mean, that it could be more exiting if it's up to the phantasy of the viewer, what the boy is grabbing. (toys, pencils or even in the face smile.gif )
IMHO it's already a thrilling - extra ordinary portrai which doesn't need more things to be complete.

As i said - just an idea.

cheers ...

I like the idea of the baby reaching out toward the viewer. I'd love to see a world of giant blocks behind him, like he's there but he's more interested in who's out here. wink.gif

Thanks smile.gif
Its funny you say that because I've been leaning towards the same idea. Hes still sitting there with nothing done yet, and I've been thinking of a very mild down tone on the background and leaving the rest to the viewer's imagination. Thanks for the feedback and encouragement. smile.gif

Mindy, thanks for backing the idea, I've done a full circle and went back to my original plan.

I love the idea of the viewers imagination... but I am sure whatever you decide it will be awesome !!

The blocks is a good idea I was going to say a butterfly or something as his eyes say he is very interested in what he wants to grab .
nice work ..I love the detail .

What about a shadow and let the viewer decide what it is supposed to be .
