I feel like I'm missing something from these portraits. I just got back into my artwork over the last couple of months and feel like I have come a long way but still feel like there is an itch in my art that I need to scratch. Something is missing. Any ideas or suggestions let me know, here are my two newest.

I am certainly not one to critique even though I am in this section wink.gif but I think they are amazing! The one thing that I would say is that you should add some type of background. I find that for me it makes my drawings stand out more. Your portraits seem to just be "floating" in white space. I hope that my comments do not offend you because your drawings are amazing. I just thought my 2 cents might help. smile.gif

your portraits are excellent draw - in my opinion = the portraits would contribute some background but even better wink.gif

Thanks, you make a very good point. They do seem to be all alone on the page. Maybe that will help with the contrast lines around the lightened edges also. I'll touch em up and see what happens.

your welcome. Just a suggestion and you probably know this but do the background around the edges and around the face leave the white. You will see the your portraits will pop out at you. I do a background on almost all of the portraits that I attempt to draw, if you want to, check out my gallery and you'll see what I mean about the background effect. It's almost like you'll be crating a halo effect around your subject.

I hope this helps you smile.gif Good luck and you'll always find someone to help you out so don't be afraid to ask even if you think it's a silly question wink.gif
