This project relies completely on freehand drawing without the help of drawing tools such as a grid. You first draw a simple line drawing, and then add shading with hatching to make Kevin’s face and body look three-dimensional, and his spotted fur look furry.

Hi Brenda

I've been drawing now on and off for nearly 40+ years now and I haven't given it the focus I should have. I have done portraits which are lifelike and landscapes. I get into moods where I can draw well and then others where I just can't get it. I haven't done anything now for almost 4 years and I need to pick it up again. I love your lessons and I just tried the pig (Kevin Bakon) I didn't do half bad for not having picked up a pencil to draw in a while. I am getting the feaver again. Thanks for your website. I love seeing other artist's techniques and everytime I see a painting I closely examine it to see if I can detect anything I can use. I owe a friend a portrait that he wanted me to do of him and add Jack Nicholson so that it looks like they are buddies. That was over 3 years ago and I am embarrased to admit that I haven't completed that work. In fact I am back to square one. Not that I can't do it, I have done better in the past, but I lost my urge. I think it's coming back since I have been observing your site. Thanks for the shot in the arm

O yeh I am from Nova Scotia. Not too far from you, but my wife and I are presently in Hamilton Ontario. -- Don't ask its a long story.

Hope to meet you sometime if we're ever in Cornerbrook.
PS I'm sending you a couple of my pictures. Hope you get them

Hi Rick!

I've been living in NS for almost 25 years now, but still call myself a Newfoundlander! Welcome to the site!

the shading was a little hard for me. Im a begginer and of course I am never good at shading. I need to practice more before drawing with shades.

This was a good lesson and when I drew it then I found my biggest weakness of all - fur! I just can't do fur and I think I'm going to avod it and focus on something I can do.

Otherwise, thanks for the great lesson rolleyes.gif

This is giving me so many problems!!! But it's a great lesson for learning proportions etc....had to have a second go because everything was completely wrong with my little porker, but it's taught me to really study a subject closely.
A big thank you for this excellent site.

This lesson was great, I really enjoyed it, and the result is too cute! Fur was very hard though.
